Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in USA
The little documented information I can find, shows that my 2nd Gr. Grandfather immigrated to the US in the 1860's and lived in New Jersey. In Feb of 1865, he enlisted in the Union Army in Trenton, New Jersey, listed as a laborer. He served 3 years and was honorably discharged in Feb of 1868, in Danville, Kentucky, where he met his wife, Margaret A Cahill. They were married in Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky, on 25 Feb 1868. Their son, William Thomas Kelly was born in Danville, Kentucky on 8 Nov 1868. Eventually, they followed Margaret's brother and his family to Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri, by the 1870 US Census, where he operated a grocery store for about 13 years. Their daughter, Mary (Mollie) Belle Kelly was born in Sedalia, Missouri, on 27 Apr 1871. James passed away at the age of about 38 years in Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri, on 23 July 1882, and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, section C, lot 36, grave 3.
