Migrated to/Born in USA
My great grandmother, Catherine "Katie" Farrell, was born in Clonfad, Oct. 20, 1855. She was one of seven children born to Patrick Farrell and Lucy McDonnell.
She left Ireland in 1872 and returned in 1899 as a widow. She had two girls, Leocadie and Marie Gregory, and she left the girls in the care of her brother, John Farrell, while she moved to New York to work.
John's wife Bessie and their 3 children, Katie, Ellen, and Patrick lived on a farm in Clonfad. All of the Farrells and Leocadie and Marie appear on the 1901 Census.
In 1904, Katie came back to Clonfad and brought Leocadie and Marie back to New York with her.
John, Kate, and Patrick Farrell appear on the 1911 Census in Clonfad.
