  • Ann Phelan married Richard Blanchfield circa 1804. They are my 3rd great-grandparents. Their eight known childen were all born (1805-1825) in the Rathdowney area prior to their resettlemant in Canada Bas (Quebec) near Montreal. Untimately many descendants migrated to the United States. Richard and Ann died in St.-Columban, Deux-montagnes, Canada Est (Quebec) Ann on 5 May 1845 and Richard on 20 January 1862.

  • I'm grateful to the French-Canadian clergy for their comprehensive records that sent me back to Michael Phelan and Mary Connor.. What a treat!

    Here is what I have:

Sponsors: Keiran Bergin and Catherine Connor.

(Ireland), "Rathdowney, Diocese of Ossory," Marriage Phelan-Connor 1781;  Microfilm 05013 / 08, National Library of Ireland, Dublin 2.  1781 p. 46: Dunaghmore P. Raheendonnague 8ber 21st Married Michl Phelan from 7 P. of Bordill (with 7th Rev. Maurice Delany's Certificate) and Mary Connor. Witnesses: Patt Phelan his Brother-in-law and Antace McNamara.

Not sure what the 7P means.

These people all came to Quebec in the mid-1820s.
