BIRTH
Martin Byrne was born about 1805 according to his record of death. He was probably born in Ballytarsna Townland, Abbeyleix Catholic and Civil Parish, Queen's County, Ireland. As of 2021 his parents were unknown.
MARRIAGE
He had a son, Richard, on July 4th, 1847 with Mary Doran, in Ballytarsna Townland. The son's birth was recorded in the Roman Catholic parish records. Martin and Mary Byrne probably had other children as well. He owned a house. He leased five acres of land in Ballytarsna from the De Vesci Estate. He was a Farmer. Since no other children were known as of 2021, his year of marriage (1846 or before) was calculated based on Richard's year of birth. Richard married Eliza Higgins, and it is calculated that they settled on part of the leased land.
DEATH
Martin Byrne died in 1875 in Queen's County in Abbeyleix Catholic and Civil Parish. The place of death was Ballytarsna Townland. (In 1922 Queen's County was renamed County Laois.)
BURIAL
Speculation in 2021 was that Martin Byrne was buried in the Abbeyleix De Vesci Estate Church Cemetery (also known as the Demesne Graveyard) which lies a little southeast of Ballytarsna Townland. Burials of both Church of Ireland members and Roman Catholics took place there. The graveyard was situated on the land of the De Vescis and as of 2011 was owned by that family.
