Michael Horan immigrated from Ireland to Canada circa 1823 with his wife Mary Minnock (Minach). They brought their 6 children with them - William, James, Ann, Michael, John, Sarah and Maria. Shortly after arriving in Canada, Michael was killed while working in a Mica mine near Ottawa, Ontario.
Mary was granted a 400 acre parcel of land in Albion Township in 1824. Their son, William, and his wife, Hanorah Shore, had 15 children and remained in Albion township, producing a multitude of descendants.
Some of William's siblings moved to the Irish Block near Owen Sound Ontario.
