Looking to connect with descendants of the WALSH and MORTIMER families from the areas of Aghaboe, Borris-in-Ossory, Camross, Mountrath, etc.  My GG grandfather, James Walsh, was born in the townland of Derrin and baptised in Aghaboe parish in the 1830's, the son of James Walsh and Judy Fitzpatrick.  He had 3 siblings that I know of- Martin, Frances and Mary Walsh.  Both James and Mary emigrated to the US and lived in the area of Troy, NY.   James married Anne Mortimer, baptised in 1842 in Camross parish, the daughter of Michael Mortimer and Catherine Phelan.  Anne had 3 siblings who emigrated and also lived in the Troy, NY area- Patrick, Matthew and Margaret Mortimer.  She had one brother, John, who stayed in Ireland, married Maria Bennett and had a large family.  Over the years I have been in contact with several members of the Mortimer family, some still in Ireland, some in England, and some in the USA.  My father began searching for his Irish roots in the 1970's, placing ads in newspapers and writing letters back and forth to Ireland.  He heard from some members of the Mortimer family, and I was able to meet a few of them on trips to Ireland in the 1990's.  Looking forward to planning a trip back to meet more relatives!

Through Ancestry.Com, i have traced my grandfather's family back two generations in Yonkers, NY.  Family history says the family came from Ireland, emigrating through Sligo.  My grandfather had a brother Charles Howard Mortimer who died in WWII on a flight between China and India.  He was a flight surgeon in the Army.  the remains of his aircraft have been located in India.  My grandfather died in NYC.

Any information yiu'd care to share would be appreciated.  thank you very much!
