I am searching for information about the family of my Great Grand-Father, Christopher Cumberton.  He was born in Tullamore, King's County, and left for the United States in 1904. Unfortunately I do not know what Parish he came from.  Thank You very much!

    There is a record of the baptism of Christopher Cumberton in Offaly 1872 on www.rootsireland.ie/

  • I had a look on ancestry.com; the Dudley public member tree has his birthplace as 'Sullamore'

    I checked the rootsireland record again and clicked the magnifying glass to get the parish list; sure enough the parish is TULLAMRE RC Offaly county.

  • Can not thank you enough.  The family history, that we heard growing up, left us with little hope of being able to trace our family in Ireland,  I really appreciate you sharing this information, and so quickly too.  Getting the name of the Parish is a huge piece of information.  Thanks again!

    The Cumberton family lived in Spollanstown townland outside of Tullamore. Spollanstown is in Kilbride civil parish. Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records. Looks like Michael died in the summer of 1913. See index record below. if you want to get a copy of the record for about 4 euros, let me know and I will provide instructions.

    I looked for death index records for Mary Cumberton in the Tullamore registration district. There were 3 but 2 were clearly not her. The one remaining has her younger than the ages on the 1901 and 1911 census records but possibly the informant did not know her age and just guessed. The other possibility is that her death was not registered.
