AI am looking for any insights on where to look for further information on my Haughran family or any related family. They are in Perry County, Ohio, United States around 1835 buying land. We do not know what particular town or parish they came from. They were Catholic.
John Haughran born about 1774 died 1839 Ohio; wife unkown.
Sons all born in Ireland
Patrick born about 1800 and died 1890 Ohio; Thomas born about 1806 and died 1890 Ohio; William born about 1813 and died 1845 Ohio; and John birth not know and died 1847 Ohio.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I think it is very likely that your family was from Co. Offaly (19th century and earlier the county was known as Kings Co.) The Griffiths Valuation which was conducted in Ireland from 1848-1864 does not show any Haughran records. When I go back to the Tithe Listings from the 1820s/1830s, the only Haughran records that came up were in Kilbride parish in Kings Co. See link below. When I searched Roots Ireland for baptismal records for the surname Haughran (exact spelling), I received about 50 records and all for maybe two records were in Kings Co./Co. Offaly but the earliest record was 1821 too late for your family. The town of Tullamore is in Kilbride parish so that area is a good lead for where your family may have come from.
Let me know if you have questions.
