I am an Australian who has an Irish great grandmother, with the not so easy to research name of Mary Kelly. She arrived here, seemingly alone, in about 1859 and I have not yet identified a ship that is equivocally hers.

She was married in Ballarat, Victoria in 1865. Her age was 23, and a ‘servant’. Her wedding certificate identifies her parents as Michael Kelly and Elizabeth Nolan, and she is a Catholic, from King’s County; there is no way, that I know, of identifying her parish.

Can anyone help with a likely Parish?

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

If you go to www.rootsireland.ie there is a baptism record there for a child, John born to a father Michael Kelly and mother Elizabeth Nolan. John was baptised in 1832. I think it would be a fair assumption (from the info you have given me) that this is Mary?s brother. I am limited in what I can see as this is a subscription site. If you can, have a look at it and let me know what you think. The parish in Co. Westmeath will be recorded on it.

    Best wishes
