i am trying to find any information about my 2nd Great Grandfather Thomas Towers who was born in Kings County, according to the Liverpool census information, about 1831. I googled Kings County Ireland and it says the former name was Omaly. He was in England by 1861.
Can anyone help me with where to go for birth/ baptism records.
Thankyou

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on Roots Ireland from 1826-1836 and the only Thomas Towers baptismal record that came up is the one below. I would consider this record a lead. You really need to find his parents names to confirm. Co. Louth is a few counties northeast of Co. Offaly.
The cuurent name of the former Kings County is Co. Offaly.

Hi,
Your great great grandfather Thomas Towers is my great grandfather he came to Liverpool from Kings County Ireland sometime in the early 1850s. He married Margaret O'Brian in Saint Mary's R C in Highfield Street Liverpool in 1853. They lived in Vescock Street off Scotland Road Liverpool and raised 11 children one of their sons was James Towers who was my grandfather. Thomas's wife Margaret was born in Kilkenny County Ireland. Thomas died in 1900 in Liverpool and Margaret died in 1908 in Liverpool they are both buried in Anfield Cemetery in Liverpool. I have most of their family history but as yet unable to trace any of their family life in Ireland. As you say they were on the 1861 census and Margaret was last on the 1901 census. I hope this is some help to you.

Dear David
Thank you so much for your helpful information. My great grandmother was Ellen Towers, sister of your grandfather, James. She married Edward Hooker, who was a dock worker in Liverpool. They had 9 children, including my grandmother Mary.
On the Catholic Register of the marriage between Thomas Towers and Margaret O'Brien it states that his father's name was Hugh and hers was Matthew. But that is as far as I have got. My aim is to go over to Ireland and try to find out more there, when I have time.
If you find out more please let me know.
Thank you again for your help.

Hi Perpetua, I have a famliy tree on Ancestry, and have made contact with cousins from six of Thomas's children. Some live in America and Canada. Thomas's son, John William had a large family in Chicago. Hugh lived in Montreal Canada. Would love to know more about Ellen Hooker's family, maybe we could exchange email address's if that is possible, to exchange our family histories. Would you have a photo of Ellen ? I have one of Thomas and some of his children. Best regards, David.

Hi David
I also have a family tree on Ancestry and I think I have found yours. My grandmother, Mary Hooker, Ellen's daughter did not leave us any photos, unfortunately. My email address is perpetua.jones@googlemail.com and I would love to hear from you. My father is quite frail but I will ask him if he has any memories of when he visited his grandmother in Liverpool.
Best wishes
