In fact, no Edward Daly of Croghan appears the 1911 Census returns. This may have been a misprint for Andrew Daly (b.1875) of Treanagry, Croghan (parish of Estersnow) farmer, who was living in a 3-room thatch house with his widowed mother Bridget Daly (b. 1837). His uncle, John Daly (b.1835) was living with them in 1901.
In 1911, the only Edward Dalys living in the area were:
Edward Daly (tinsmith) & wife Maria, of Back Lane, Elphin, Co Roscommon.
Edward Daly (Agricultural labourer) & wife Winnie, Fort Lane Boyle, Co Roscommon.
