Phillip was born in Townland of Tievegarriff in parish of Ballynakill, Co. Galway.
He married Sarah Coyne and in 1847 they had a daughter Catherine.
Phillip left Ireland in 1851 and settled in Marcellus NY where family and friends had moved. Sarah followed with Catherine in 1854. Philip died in Marcellus NY on May 1, 1862 and was first burial in St. Francis Xavier cemetery, the then new, and only, Catholic cemetery in Marcellus.
