He was baptized on December 10, 1843. Parish register (cite below) states Diocese of Elphin,Kiltrustan + Lissonuffy, Strokestown but without church name. His sponsor was James QUINN Kelly (unsure of relationship).

He had one brother Patrick but possibly more (Michael, Peter, Stephen, James, Bernard) but positive connections have not been established.
He married Elizabeth Beirne of Drisheane, daughter of Luke Beirne and Winifred McManus on April 15, 1872 in the Catholic Chapel (name?) in Bridogue (Breedogue), Frenchpark (Ballinameen/register, Boyle)
