Hi,
My G.G.Grandfather Michael Durney migrated to New York in 1852, I believe there may be some family connection. It appears most of the family sailed from Waterford on a ship called the Orooco. They originated from Owning Templeorum and were listed as Daniel -father- aged 50, Michael 22, John 10, David 9, Richard 7, Bridget -mother- aged 45, Catherine 11, Ellen 3, Bridget 10 mnths, Peggy -Margaret- aged 25 potentially daughter in law and John 11 mnths assumed son of Peggy. There was another son Patrick who I am searching for, not sure if he passed away, remained in Ireland or went ahead before hand. However on checking the rest of the passenger list it appears there was potentially another Michael Durney aged 22 on board the Oronoco on the same journey. My G.G.Grandfather married in N.Y - I think- , she was a Bridget Kenneally listed as from Kilkenny on 1901 census. Their first 5 children were all born in the US, they were in order of age, Hanora, Daniel, David, Mary.A., and William, they returned to Ireland in the early 1870s. I had come across Daniel and Anna on my search and assumed there is a potential connection. However with 2 Michael Durneys on the same ship, I am now second guessing my research.
