  • I am a descendant of Mary Tyrell/Tirrells of Curraghaleen, Drum, Athlone, Roscommon.  She was my 3x great grandmother, daughter of James Tyrrell and Celia Fallon.  She married John Kennedy in January, 1836.  There was one daughter known of, Mary Kennedy, b. in 1841 and baptized at St. Peter's, Athlone.  John is thought to have died in the Famine and Mary and daughter emigrated to NYC in March, 1850.  Mary, the younger, married into the Giles family in 1859 and was a resident of Staten Island, NY. She died in 1893, in Elizabeth, Union Co. New Jersey.  I've contacted the Drum Heritage Society recently but have not heard from them as yet.  I would like to know more about this family and the village as well.   Thank you for any help or direction.
