Tyredagh Castle was occupied at one stage by Teige O'Brien as noted in 1580. The Castle was in ruins by 1842 when it was noted as such on the Ordinance Survey Ireland map. Little is known about the castle. A house across the road which the Gore family occupied for many years was also called Tyredagh Castle, however this is not the actual castle which is now a ruin in the countryside.
