Nothing is known about Thomas until in 1852 when he marries Catherine Davis and with their daughter sail on the Marco Polo for Australia arriving in Mid-September. Thomas had lowered his age by 8 years.
In Australia he works as a farm labourer for few years until he gets a job as a Toll Gate collector which he holds for about 4 years. By this time he has saved about 400 pounds.
The next my father told me that he lost all his money. He said he did not know how the money was lost.
