Charles Frances Gallagher was born in Coolcholly, Ballyshannon. His mother's  name was Margaret McGloin and his father was James Aloysius Gallagher. He left for the USA 20 Mar 1908 at age 24. He stayed with his uncle Pat McGloin before coming to the United States. On 15 Jul 1923 he married Nellie Duffy. He had only one son, Charles Edward Gallagher, who was only a year old when Charles Frances Gallagher died.
