Michael Tuohy was born in 1871 in Gortacullin, Kilseily, County Clare.

One of six children, John b.1864, Hugh b. 1866, Thomas b.1868, Margaret b 1870, Michael b.1871 and Norry b 1872) in Gortacullin, Kilseily, Limerick, Co Clare. My hypothesis is that Thomas and Hugh were the first to immigrate to New York, US about 1886 then Margaret and Norry arrived in NY about 1888 and John with his mother Mary arrived in 1889. Sometime in the mid-late 1880's John Sr must have died in Ireland. Unsure when Michael immigrated. They originally settled in Hartford, Washington Co, NY with the exception of Norry who settled in Albany, NY. After a few years, the family moved to Granville, Washington Co, NY - this was about the time Margaret married John Dolan White of Granville, NY. In the early 1890's Hugh and Thomas moved to Waltham, MA Then sometime in the 1920's, Margaret & John White and their family of 9 children moved to Waltham, MA. John Jr. stayed in Granville, NY.
