New Type Ann and her previous husband John Caldwell seem to have purchased farmland prior to John's death, in what was Pt Chevalier, Auckland, but is now part of the suburb of Mt Albert - Carrington Road. The family lived on this land and later part of the land was sold to the Education Board and is now Gladstone Primary School, and the rest subdivided for housing.
