Patrick O'Loughlen Sr (1802-1874) of Cullane was a farmer. Old maps from his time here show he made use of a lime kiln and sheep folds here.
In 1836 he is recorded as holding land at Cullane along with Michael, Peter, and Andrew O'Loughlen each of whom claimed to have a Freehold of £10.
By 1855, Patrick O'Loughlen was recorded in Griffith's Valuation as holding the full townland of 270 acres at #1 Cullaun and the house rated at £1 10 shillings. His landlord was Captain Francis McNamara of Doolin.
- The other two households that had existed here throughout the Great Famine and certainly up until 1851 were no more.

- Mary O'Loughlin (1844-?) married Patrick Fitzgerald of Newtown in 1869
He died in 1874 and on 27 September 1875, Patrick's will was executed at Limerick. His interest in the land at Cullane and his effects (under £200) passed to his son Patrick O'Loughlen Jr.
