Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in USA
My 3rd great grandparents were John Hurley and Johanna (Joanna) Lawler, who married in Ardfelt, Kerry Co, on March 1, 1840.
John was born 28 Sep 1817, Johanna was born 18 Sep 1819, both apparently born in Buncurrig, Kerry. In 1849, they left Ireland with their 11 children and settled in Shenandoah, Pennsylvnia. A few of the sons worked in the coal mines. I have not found their birth certificates, but the children I found in http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/17f5660176… (for Margaret).
The Hurley children are:
- James Joseph b. 14 Dec 1839 (migrated to Kansas migrated to Glasco, Kansas in a covered wagon)
- Margaret b. 1 Jul 1842
- Mary b. 15 Feb 1844
- Honora b. 26 Nov 1846 (my 2rd great grandmother, also migrated to Glasco, Kansas)
- Anne M b. 4 Sep 1848
- David b. 1849
- Abbey Deborah (Gobinet) b. 10 Aug 1850
- Elizabeth G b. 12 Sep 1852
- Timothy (Thadeus) J b. 30 Jul 1854
- Margaret b. 1 Feb 1857
- Ellen b. 8 Dec 1858.
I would love to find more about John and Johanna, I have no information on their life in Kerry or about their parents.
