Ellen Power was born in 1832 in Dragnan, County Tipperary. Her parents were John Power and Mary Cody of Kilkenny. She emigrated with her brother, John but not sure of the date. Her brother, Michael emigrated to Minnesota and brother, William stayed in Ireland. She married Patrick Ryan in 1854 in Galena, Illinois and then they moved to nearby Hazel Green, Wisconsin. They had about 10 children.
