Born in Templemore, Tipperary 09th June 1872 (DOB on 1939 registry 29 June 1874 but correction made to 9th June 1872 which matches birth record found)

Married Robert WIlliam Loader Fillary 11 March 1894 at Curragh Camp. Robert was a soldier in the Lancashire Fusiliers. Her father's name was Edward Maher (Labourer)

They had one son, Robert, born at Curragh Camp later in 1894. Then several more sons and daughters born in Manor Park, London. Margaret died in 1953 at 110 Parkhurst Road, Manor Park.

Birth/Baptism records show parents as Edward Maher and Mary Coote (Cute) formally of Twomileborris. Also found Nancy or Anne (1875) and Mary (1876) also born in Templemore to Edward and Mary. And John Meagher born 1869 to Edmund Meagher and Mary Cute but born in Mtshannon. I cannot find anymore inforamtion about these potential siblings.

In 1901, Mary Fraser (nee Maher) is living with Margaret and Robert. Her DOB is noted as 23/05/1867 but I think it could be closer to 1863 as she married James Fraser 3rd August 1882 at 'Full Age' they married in the Roman Catholic Church Templemore. James was a bandsman in the Fusiliers and served at Curragh Camp. She also lists her father as Edward Maher. I found birth records for two of her children who have mother's maiden name as 'Fitzgerald' even though hers is Maher and I do think they're the right records. In particular, her first son Daniel Joseph Fraser was born in Templemore, in 1884 (where mother's maiden name is Fitzgerald). James dies around 1900/1901 and Mary remarries but keeps Fraser as her surname. Also living in Manor Park until she dies in 1941. (I will create her own post)

On her marriage certificate, Edward Maher is detailed as her father. From searching birth records, I believe she may have been born on 29 June 1874 to Edward Maher and Mary Cute.
This is what I found.......

I went to the Parish books and it's the 9th June and it says formaly from 2 mile borris.

Nancy ....stated as Ann 23rd March 1875
Parish book say they were living in Barrack St. spelling is Kute

Sorry I cannot find Mary.

The birth in Mountshannon registered under Scarriff which is County Clare is this one..9th April

The only other record I saw was the marriage 29th March 1876 they were in Barrack Street, Templemore.
Not sure about this, but be careful as surnames as well as Christian names do repeat.

Hi Margot,

Thanks so much for that. I struggled to find them on the parish registers only the civil ones. I've got a feeling on the 1939 registry she said her dob was 9th June so will double check that. And the addresses will help so will take a look through those links.

I think I need to post Mary on her own.
