Anne Griffin was a 19 year nursery maid from Cavan when she was tried for lacency in Eniskillen, Fermanagh in 1848. She was sentenced to 7-years transportation to Australia and spent sometime in Grangegorman prior to departing Dublin in November 1848, arriving in Tasmania in January 1849.
Her Tasmanian convict records state that she was a native of Cavan with 3 brothers, William, John & James and 1 sister, Sarah still residing there at time of her conviction.
She had been previously convicted of stealing butter for which she spent 3 months in gaol.

James Forster (Foster) married Ann Griffin at Franklin Village Chapel on 24 June 1851. He was 30, widower, a ticket of leave convict and signed with his mark; she was 20, unmarried, a prisoner and signed her named. RGD37/1/10 no 642.
