Mary Mannix (middle name possibly Anne) was my great-grandmother. She was born in Firies Aug. 1, 1898 (1901/1911 census shows the family in Ballinvarrig, Mohaliffe). Her father was Denis Mannix and her mother was called Katie. I am having trouble figuring out who Katie is.. two possibilities are a Catherine Murphy or a Catherine Prendergast. Her siblings are Helena (Larkin), James, and Patrick. There may be another sibling named Denis Patrick.
I've been told that my great-great grandparents (Denis & Katie) ran or owned a shop of some kind.
Mary married my great-grandfather James Edward Mahoney (it was O'Mahoney before immigrating) in Killarney in Sept 1923. She immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in 1925 with her son, Timothy "Teddy" Mahoney who was an infant at the time. They lived in Brooklyn, New York and then Selden, NY until James died and I believe she moved to Homestead, FL with my grandmother because she passed away there.
She had 5 children: Teddy, James, Theresa, Catherine, and Helen. Theresa died at around the age of 4 from being hit in the head with a swing and developing problems subsequently.
