John was from County Kerry and moved to Canada about Jan 1819 arriving in Quebec, residence Whitechurch and then bought land in Peel County Ontario. He was single when he arrived and unsure of who he married. It is believed he may have been father to Catherine McCarthy born about 1826. Catherine married Thomas McCormick about 1844 in Toronto area.
unsure of death of John but can no longer find him as a landowner in 1837 so may have either died at that time or moved.
