Patrick Moroney was born in Tipperary town. His parents were Michael Moroney and Mary Costelloe. At some stage the family moved to Thurles and Michael and Patrick were Boot and Shoe makers. They had a shop on Main Street (now Liberty Square). We have found and visited the shop, now a Haberdashers,. It was a good size building with living quarters upstairs and a workshop. His father Michael died in 1867 and Patrick took over the business.

Patrick married Bridget Corcoran from Grague, Killenaule and they had 4 children. Sometime during the 1890s he last all his money pursuing a case against the railway for some equipment being delivered to him by rail was badly damaged in transit. They had to move away, first to Fermoy and then to Cork, where he died in 1904. After being well off with a thriving business he ended up being buried in a poor grave in St Joseph's cemetery in Cork. An interesting fact is that Patrick and Bridget went to Dublin to get married in St Audoen's Church. With them they took the priest from Killenaule and their two witnesses.

My gggrandparents were John ACHESON and Ellen COFFEY. They lived both in town lands near Kilrossanty, Co. Waterford. He was CoI and she was R.C.

Ellen got pregnant. In this state as an unmarried couple they went to Dublin. They married 6 days after Ellen gave birth to a son. The mixed marriage took place 23 June 1856 in St Audeon Church in Dublin. In the civil marriage record the address of John ACHESON and Ellen COFFEY was 34 Merchant's Quay what was a boarding house near St. Audeon Church. Their profession was indicated as servants what they most likely weren't. They just stayed in Dublin and waited the child to be born!

Their son William was baptized 13.8.1856 in the CoI Church Kilrossanty, Co. Waterford.
