Catherine"Kate" Morris was the daughter of James MORRIS and Alice SHANAHAN of Gourtnahoe, County Tipperary.
Kate left for the USA ( date of passage unknown). On the 3rd of March,1893, in Camden, New Jersey, Kate married Christian HANSEN (1871-1943 ). The marriage certificate included the names of Kate's parents (the only link I had to research Kate's origins in Ireland!). Kate and her husband lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Of this union was born Mary Agnes HANSEN (my paternal grand- mother (1891-1972).
According to family lore, Mary Agnes Hansen had contracted tuberculosis during her youth. My great-grandparents sent the young Mary Agnes to Ireland to live with her kin, during the time of her recovery. As it was said, the fresh air and care had "fattened up" and fortified my grandmother before her return to Philadephia (dates of passage unknown). The love of Ireland would last a lifetime for Mary Agnes Hansen. Unfortunately, the links to the cousins in county Tipperary have been long lost!
