Born 1840 in Tullamore to parents Christopher Fox and Margaret Byrne. Travelled to Australia onboard the Arabian from Liverpool 23 Feb 1866 with his mother who was listed as a widow. They arrived in Australia 23 May 1866 and after a short time in QLD settled in Keilor, Victoria where the family were pioneers of the district. Michael married Cavan born Rose Reilly 20 Jul 1873 and the had a large family (Michael, Patrick, Mary, Margaret, Rose-Anne, John, Thomas, Martha, Phillip, Catherine and Christopher). In 1878 Michael was elected as a Councillor and one of the Town Common's managers for Keilor. His son John followed in his footsteps, taking over from his father following his death on 3 Sep 1918.
